Hello, my name is Penny.  I am a Chicagoan, food dork, and creative. I run the craft beer girl group She's Crafty Chicago, ride scooters, and hang out with my dog Fred. I'm a graphic designer making the change to UX. Generally happy, mostly content.
Here's what's up:
Some of the earliest memories I have, are of my mother handing me the skinny plastic trays of watercolors that she found at the the grocery store, and a brand new brush. Hours were spent at the kitchen table painting and wondering what life would be like as a working artist. Mortgage processing, flower delivery, and restaurant management were some of the many careers I held until I found my niche in graphic design. Paintbrushes were traded for hex code, paints for Pantones. I still love the "bones" of design; the typography, color selection, and I firmly believe that when information design is done right, it is seamless and when design is empathetic, wonderful things can happen.
